兩位來自盧森堡的藝術家 Claudine Arendt (克勞汀·阿倫特) 及海洋科學家 Sven Gastauer (斯文 ·加斯陶爾) 參與【2023馬祖國際藝術島】其中一項《地下實驗室》計畫展出創作。
在這一創作中，「藝術家透過科學家潛視大海的方法，以自主光學及聲學紀錄探測隱藏的生物，聲學足跡讓科學家得以運用如鯨豚的回聲定位技術，將蒐集數據轉譯成特定物種的豐富生物量估計數值。作品中以重要浮游物種及代表性的黃魚的聲學足跡形塑出陶瓷物件，邀請觀眾思索現在、過去及可能隱藏在人類視線之外、藍海之中的未知。」(節錄自馬祖國際藝術島官方網站)。

Luxembourg artist Claudine Arendt and ocean scientist Sven Gastauer participate in one of the projects “Underwater Lab” to showcase their fabulous creation at 2023 Matsu Biennial.
In this artwork – “How to look into the ocean – through a porcelain cast” – artists employ a scientist’s view to peer into the ocean, utilizing autonomous optical and acoustic recordings to detect hidden organisms. The acoustic footprint allows scientists to use echolocation techniques similar to those of dolphins and whales, translating the collected data into estimates of abundant biomass for specific species. The acoustic footprints of significant plankton species and the iconic golden croaker shape ceramic objects, inviting the audience to contemplate the present, the past, and the potential unknowns hidden beyond human perception, deep within the blue sea.” (from Matsu Biennial Website).
